Infernal

A beautiful, exacting language of bargains, manipulation, hierarchy, and binding terms.

Overview

Infernal is built for obligation. Its vocabulary distinguishes permission, consent, surrender, debt, ownership, service, witness, and consequence with unnerving precision.

Performance note: The real-world analog is a reference for cadence, sound, and creative direction. It is not intended as a direct one-to-one translation of a real culture or language.

Sound and Cadence

Infernal flows smoothly, with rich vowels, controlled emphasis, and a persuasive cadence.

Writing and Inscription

Infernal contracts are meticulously structured. Margins, seals, witness marks, and clause order all matter.

Common Uses

  • Contracts and bargains
  • Legal argument
  • Manipulation
  • Binding agreements

Roleplaying the Language

Speak politely and precisely. Define terms only when it benefits you. The most intimidating Infernal speaker rarely raises their voice.

What Your Character Knows

  • Synonyms are rarely interchangeable in contracts.
  • A promise and a bargain are legally distinct concepts.
  • Witnesses may acquire obligations by acknowledging a clause.
  • The language rewards literal reading and punishes assumptions.
