Language of Eryndor

Primordial (Aquan)

The tidal language of water, travel, currents, kinship, and changing boundaries.

Overview

Aquan is the water-aspected form of Primordial. It is spoken by water-aligned elementals and by communities shaped by rivers, coasts, islands, tides, and deep water.

Performance note: The real-world analog is a reference for cadence, sound, and creative direction. It is not intended as a direct one-to-one translation of a real culture or language.

Sound and Cadence

Aquan uses open vowels, flowing rhythm, and repeated patterns that rise and fall like waves.

Writing and Inscription

Aquan marks may be curved, braided, or arranged in flowing sequences.

Common Uses

  • Water magic
  • Ocean travel
  • Tides and currents
  • Aquatic traditions

Roleplaying the Language

Let sentences move smoothly. Use relational descriptions: toward the deep, against the returning current, beneath the remembered shore.

What Your Character Knows

  • The language has precise terms for currents and tides.
  • Navigation and genealogy often share metaphors.
  • Water is described as active, not passive.
  • A place may be named differently at different tides.
